Shifts and Changes before Rosh Hashanah

The Lord has been showing me that there are still more shifts and changes that coming before we get to Rosh Hashanah Tishri 1, 5781 – September 19, 2020. That might seem pretty obvious on the surface. You might even say, I don’t need a prophetic word from the Lord to tell me changes are coming. We live in a day when change seems to be the name of the game. However, what I am seeing in the Spirit is a rather large shift. This shift involves a change of speed. Like a manual transmission on a car when you move out of first gear and shift into second. First gear is really just get to get you going. It’s the lowest gear. By the time you get up to 5-10 mph you shift into second. Second gear gets you going faster like between 15-20 mph.

I learned to drive a stick shift on my grandfather’s early 60’s light blue Volkswagen Beetle. It was great to learn on because shifting gears was easy and you could hardly kill the engine even if you didn’t get the footwork just right. One lesson with Grandpa and I felt like a pro. That is of course while we were doing circles in the parking lot. It was a different story when we got out on the street. I managed to gain confidence and it became second nature after awhile. But at first I really had to think through the process. For someone who has never driven a vehicle with manual transmission, you don’t know what you are missing. With an automatic the shift happens without our involvement or participation. We don’t even have to give it a second thought. With a manual you are engaged throughout the entire driving experience. You have to know when to shift up or shift down. You have to remember to step on the clutch when you are stopping or the car will lurch and die out.

The shifts I see coming are going to need our attention and involvement. These are not shifts that are going to happen unnoticed somewhere in the background. If we want to get where we are going we are going to have to be engaged with what God has for us and keep in step with the changes.

Shifts are just that; they are shifts. A shift can be move or cause to move from one place to another. It can be a slight change in position, direction, or tendency. It can refer to the recurring periods in which different groups of workers do the same jobs in relay. A typical first, second and third shift as it applies to a work schedule is 7-3, 3-11 & 11-7. Three eight hour intervals over a 24 hour period.

I have no clue what kind of shifts are coming. All I know is that in order to get to the destination God has planned for His people we are all going to have make some shifts. I pray that the Lord give us wisdom and understanding and multiplied grace to make whatever changes He has for each of us. The Lord bless you and give you peace.
