ISAIAH DISCOVERIES

Introducing New Blog Series

Five new blog series

Over the past several months, Beyond the Dalet has continued to grow in ways I never anticipated. What began as a simple desire to share discoveries about Christ has gradually developed into several distinct paths of exploration, each one revealing a different aspect of the same testimony.

As a result, I have decided to begin rotating through five ongoing series. Each series will follow its own path of discovery while remaining centered on the same purpose: revealing Christ through Scripture, through His finished work, and through the life He shares with His people.

Others will focus on Hebrews and the finished work of Christ. Some will follow the journey of Life Made Visible. Others will be more personal reflections gathered from a lifetime of walking with Jesus.

The Witness of the Letters, where I explore the Hebrew letters and the Divine Language, will continue to post each Rosh Chodesh (the beginning of the Hebrew month). Over the coming months, I will be continuing our journey through the transition from Vav to Zayin.

Then, in the middle of each Hebrew month, I will rotate through the remaining series: Hebrews Reflections, exploring the book of Hebrews, Christ’s finished work, and our confidence before God; Life Made Visible, featuring insights emerging from my upcoming book; Along the Way, personal reflections from a lifetime of walking with Jesus; and the fifth new series:

Isaiah Discoveries

A journey of recognizing Messiah through Isaiah’s unfolding revelation of the Holy One.

One of the questions quietly guiding this series is: How Isaiah progressively reveals the Holy One until we can recognize Him when He finally stands in Nazareth and says, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing”?

For years, Isaiah has been one of those books that continually draws me back. Every time I return, I discover something I had not seen before. What often begins as a familiar passage suddenly opens into a fresh glimpse of Christ, the Father’s heart, or the kingdom He is establishing.

Rather than attempting a formal study of Isaiah, this series is precisely what the title suggests: Isaiah Discoveries. So, I’m not expecting these articles to be like a typical Bible study.

I am walking through Isaiah as a fellow traveler sharing discoveries along the way. Together we will explore Isaiah’s remarkable testimony and follow the threads that reveal the beauty of the Holy One.

When I started reading Isaiah this time, I was immediately struck by something. I opened Isaiah 1 and saw something I hadn’t seen before.

Like many of us, I typically hear Isaiah 1 in the voice of a harsh rebuke. The language is stern. The warnings are serious. The condition of God’s people is difficult to ignore. But this time I heard it differently.

There was underlying yet distinctive inflection in His voice

I heard the voice of our Father. I heard anguish and grief in His tone . When I read the words they hit places in me where condemnation and shame were still embedded. Yes, I heard our Father speaking firmly. But not out of rage. I heard the firmness of a Father who refuses to abandon the children He loves. Children who have wandered. I heard a Father whose heart is breaking over what they have become. Honestly, I was shaken. Not because something in me was exposed. But more by the incredible love I had just encountered.

When I heard the pain in His voice what I discovered that beneath the sobering warnings is undying affection and inextinguishable love. Behind every appeal stands Father God who has not stopped calling His people His own.

Perhaps that is one of the reasons Isaiah continues to fascinate me. Every time I return, I discover another glimpse of the Holy One—not only His holiness, not only His purposes, but His heart.

As we journey through Isaiah together, that is what I hope we will discover: the beauty of the Holy One and the Messiah He reveals.

Until next time.

Watch for the first installment of Isaiah Discoveries ‘The Names He Calls You – My thoughts on Isaiah 1″ coming the first week of July.

Pondering how Isaiah progressively reveals the Holy One until we recognize Him when He finally stands in Nazareth and says, “Today this Scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing”.
