The Significance of 5786 פו: The power of words to inspire, heal, and unite.

5786

5786 has been fashioned by God to be a time to ignite a fervent desire to meet with Him in a place where His liberating truth intertwines with His divine purpose, awakening our souls with the blazing fire of the Holy Spirit, causing our words be infused with power to uplift, inspire, heal, and comfort, forging unbreakable bonds that unite us with others, communities, and the divine.

Two Significant Years in this Peh פ Decade

There are two particular years that are key in respect to the peh פ(80’s) decade, 5782 and 5786.  Peh פ is the Hebrew letter that represents the cardinal number 80. The letter bet ב is 2 and the vov ו is 6. What connects them is the peh פ itself.

When we look at the construction of the Hebrew letter for 80 we find a bet ב within the heart of peh פ. And within the bet ב is a vov ו. Intrinsically, these three are connected. It’s as if you can’t have peh פ without also having bet ב and vov ו.

Peh פ represents the mouth, breath, breathing ie, being alive, and the spoken word indicating anything from a whisper to a shout. The miracle of life that brought the first manufactured human being to life through the creative living breath of God is embodied within the peh פ.

Two Forms of Peh פ

The letter peh has two forms: the open Peh (פ) and the final form (ף) and represents both mouth and speech. The bent form פ points to a closed, humble mouth in silence, while the elongated, open peh ף signifies a mouth that speaks openly. This can be anything from speaking words of truth, wisdom, or prayer. When it brings harm the open peh ף points to mean-spirited or hyper-critical words spoken with the intent to censure, criticize, condemn, or to superciliously express disapproval.

The bent form פ contains an internal space resembling the letter bet ב, symbolizing a person’s inner world, and the elongated form allows for the expression of profound ideas. Another way to look at the internal space, the bet ב, can be seen as representing the heart, or where the inner most thoughts and motivations behind our speech originate. (Out of the heart the mouth speaks)

The numerical value of peh פ (80) links it to the concept of strength, particularly human strength. This underscores the powerful influence of our words and the potential to be a benefit and to cause great harm.

The [intrinsically] good man produces what is good and honorable and moral out of the good treasure [stored] in his heart; and the [intrinsically] evil man produces what is wicked and depraved out of the evil [in his heart]; for his mouth speaks from the overflow of his heart. Luke 6:45 AMP

Peh Bet

5782, began September 7, 2021, initiating a time when His Holy Spirit started the grueling process of what I call ‘sifting the heart of the Ekklesia’.

God is jealous over the contents of our heart. After all, our heart is God’s dwelling place. He lives in there. It’s Holy Spirit’s job to lead, guide, direct and motivate us. He does that by prompting our heart. When we are sensitive to the work of Holy Spirit we tend to yield less reservedly to His coaxing. It’s also Holy Spirit’s desire to bring health and healing to our hearts. That has meant a focus on healing past trauma has been highlighted during this time.

5786 the Vov ו

5786 brings the added feature of the vov ו, as what resides within the bet ב. The vov works like a connector. It can also act like the wick of an oil lamp. The flame rests upon the wick. The wick draws from the oil. When that oil is infused with the pleasant contents of our loving and nurturing God, the flame is ignited with goodness,  kindness, gentleness, love and the like.

However, when the oil of our lamp has been infiltrated by the residue of hurt and unhealed pain of trauma wounds the flame burns with sabotaging anger, with a tendency to overreact out of our distress, ultimately causing harm to others in the process.

The Power to Unite

Vov ו also has the power to unite, integrate, bond and join together. It’s a connector. It can be like a tent peg that secures and attaches. Vov ו is a binding agent. With this in mind, it’s going to be important to be mindful to what we adhere to and with whom and how we are joined.

Let me rephrase Luke 6:45

The person who allows Holy Spirit to sift through the contents of their heart and apply healing balm to their wounded soul, will be able to draw from the inner storehouse of their own heart, the dwelling place of God, the results of Holy Spirit’s work in their lives; such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control and express this delight to others.

In this way peh פ is brought to its highest and best expression.

Join me in the coming weeks as I peruse through the coming year, 5786, peh פ, vov ו.
