5780 – and the Decade of Peh

We are currently in the Hebrew month of Av. The next month on the Hebrew calendar is Elul and then Tishri. Elul is the countdown to the High Holy Days. (Yom Kippur/Day of Atonement Tishri 10) [watch for my coming post on the Fall Feasts]. Tishri 1 is Rosh Hashanah – the Jewish New Year and the commencement of a new Hebrew decade. Today is Av 6, 5779. On September 30, 2019 not only is it a new year but a new decade. The 5780’s begin. Each year I look into the symbolism associated with the Hebrew letters that represent the numbers. This year 5779 is represented by the letter ayin 70 and the letter tet 9. The letter which represents 80 is the Hebrew letter peh. Peh, spelled peh, aleph, hei, is the Hebrew word for mouth.

This year I am writing a short prophetic book on what the Hebrew decade 5780-5789 as seen through the Hebrew letters. Here’s a brief look at what I have written so far. I hope to be finished with the book before the end of August.

ExcerptIntroduction  – A New Movement, A New Flow

The peh decade will have a very different spiritual flow than the previous ayin decade. With the change over from the ayin decade 5770-5779 to that of peh 5780-5789, there will be a significant in the movement and flow the Spirit. While Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. (Hebrews 13:8) The Spirit moves in a variety of ways (1 Cor. 12:4-11). The way in which the Spirit will be moving in the (peh) season will not be the same as how we will experience the movement of the Spirit in the ayin decade.

Each decade has its own unique personality and style. We even see in the secular world around us. What seems to be important and dominate in one decade is absent in the next. The natural look, bellbottom jeans, wide collars and pant suits of the 1970’s faded in the background as shoulder pads, high hair, and nylon sportswear of the 1980’s came on the scene. I think you get the idea that what we see in one decade is not necessarily what we see in the next decade.

Similarly in the Spirit we see differences from one decade to the next. How the Spirit moved during the Second Great Awakening of the late 1790’s – 1840’s, is vastly different than how the Spirit of God moved during the Pentecostal movement which began in the early 1900’s. The revival of the 1940’s and 50’s with its healings and miracles was vastly different than how the Spirit moved during the Charismatic Renewal of the 60’s and 70’s. And in turn what was experienced during the Toronto Outpouring was different than what was experienced during the revival in Pensacola, Florida in the 1990’s.

We stand on the threshold of another decade change, both according to the Gregorian calendar and the Hebrew calendar. On September 30, 2019 we shift into the 5780’s on the Hebrew calendar. We will bid the ayin decade farewell as the peh season commences.

We can gain spiritual insight through looking at the symbolism and characteristics inherent in the Hebrew letters. Hebrew letters also represent numbers. The Hebrew letter ayin, which is the number 70, is representative of a fountain and is the Hebrew word for eyes. The eyes of the Lord as seen in the seven spirits of God correlates to the Menorah/Lampstand. Ayin is all about seeing. During the ayin season what dominated was the seer.

1 Samuel 9:9 ESV – (Formerly in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, he said, “Come, let us go to the seer,” for today’s “prophet” was formerly called a seer.) Hebrew for Seer – roeh and for prophet is navi.

Seeing in the Spirit can be through visions, dreams, and spiritual encounters. Seeing in the Spirit is also the spiritual sense to perceive. Spiritual perception, such as learning to know something, falls in this category. The whole idea contained within the letter ayin has been to perceive through sight. Another way to put might be like when we finally understand, we say, “Now, I see.” We associate understanding and perceiving with sight. The ayin season has been about seeing things or understanding something we didn’t see before. This seeing and perceiving has been a predominate manner of receiving insight and revelation by the Holy Spirit during this current ayin season. The way we receive from the Spirit of the Lord is going to change in this next season.

For the sake of clarity let me repeat, during the time of the judges when someone wanted to inquire of the Lord they went to a prophet as it says in 1 Samuel 9:9. Prophets were the ones who had intimacy with God in such as way as to hear from God. Basically, if someone received communications from God they were considered a navi or a roeh. Today, we have access to this communication with God through Christ. (see Hebrews 10:19-22)
